Help & Advice > Choose the right fringe for your face shape

A fringe can change your look dramatically, even make you look younger some say. Get it right or the wait for it to grow out will seem long and torturous.

Round Face

Goal: Make your face look longer. To do this you need a side-swept fringe. Side-swept fringes tend to look better with layered hairstyles. Avoid thick bangs, as they will make your face look shorter and plumper.

Square Face

Goal: Elongate your face because a square face shape looks shorter. Allow the majority of your face to be seen with layered fringes which expose the forehead. Avoid thick bangs, especially when cut straight across.

Rectangular Face

Same as square face shape.

Oval Face

Perfect bang shape! You will look good with any. So, why not get as creative as you like. Experiment!

Oblong Face

Same as oval face shape. Just avoid side-swept fringes which will give a longer appearance to the face.

Heart-Shaped Face

Goal: Make your chin line softer. Consider a hairstyle with a ‘wispy’ bang. An angled fringe would work best. If you want a bolder look go for a thicker bang. Avoid layered bangs.

Triangular Face

This shaped face tends to look good in a several different bangs. Wispy, side-swept or very thick bangs. It’s a case of personal preference.
