The Bath House - Banya London is not your typical spa. It draws on and updates a centuries old bathing tradition to offer visitors an experience that is authentic, restorative and social.
The banya is the slavic cousin of the Finnish sauna and Turkish hammam. Uniting the elements of fire, water and wood, it has a deep connection to nature, and a visit to The Bath House is a refuge from the intensity of the urban environment outside. The banya has enormous physical and mental health benefits.
The Bath House comprises a Public (shared) and Private Banya (for groups of up to 8 people) and caters for every guest and occasion. After relaxing in the log cabin steam rooms with their handmade ceramic stoves, guests can brace themselves for the contrast of a tipping bucket or a dip in the ice cold plunge pool. They can then enjoy treatments like organic scrubs, massages and the signature parenie ritual, a steam massage performed with soaked oak, birch and eucalyptus leaves.
The banya is somewhere to socialise as well. The Bath House has the atmosphere of a club, somewhere to visit with friends and family. After enjoying the steam and treatments, visitors can relax in the lounge area and enjoy freshly cooked Eastern European meal. The menu includes all-time favourites such as Ukrainian borsch and pelmeni (dumplings) and a selection of home made soft drinks like kvas (fermented drink made from rye bread) and sea-buckthorn juice which are perfect to stay hydrated at the banya.
