With over 20 years of combined personal training and teaching experience, Sylvia Wong and Chris Thompson make up North Leeds Fitness.

"Our aim is to provide an effective and friendly service to our fellow residents in order to excel in health, fitness and performance. We want you to feel good inside and out, we can help you achieve your ultimate goals. We specialise in different areas and combine our services so our clients get results! ---Sylvia has a masters degree in exercise physiology and has worked in a clinical environment as a physiologist for a leading private health-care provider. She specialises in fat loss and body sculpting, nutrition and lifestyle interventions for optimising health and the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

As an experienced Sports Therapist, Sylvia will be able to call upon a variety of sports and remedial massage techniques to improve function and performance, injuries, posture, restrictions and other conditions. What is Remedial Massage? Remedial massage is a closely related physical therapy method that incorporates a selection of well-documented manual techniques which have been developed to improve certain ailments or conditions, and in particular musculo-skeletal problems. What is Sports Massage? Sports Massage is the manual application to the superficial soft tissue of the skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments, fascia for preparation for performance, reduce risk of injury and aid in recovery post exercise (Fritz 1995).       Personal Training is about staying motivated, getting results on schedule and maintaining them. As experienced Personal Trainers, we guide you through every aspect of your fitness and health development. We understand that everyone is different. Therefore, we provide a bespoke service to each client in order to achieve their individual goal. We use a variety of methods to keep training sessions progressive, interesting but still challenging. We use functional training methods, high intensity interval training and basic resistance exercises. We also apply holistic principles including pilates, yoga and balance.

      As an amateur, Chris had 23 bouts. His achievements include winning the Under 19s Northern England Championships & reaching the British Quarter Finals. Chris also competed as a Professional and boxed in Scotland, Wales & at the famous York Hall Bethnall Green in London. Chris retired after winning his last Professional Bout in front of his home fans in Leeds. Retiring on a win was a great way for Chris to finish his 15year career. Chris has spent time at several boxing gyms around the World including Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn New York. A gym where many many World Champions, including Muhammed Ali, Jake La Motta & Zab Judah have trained. Chris has sparred with countless Top Class Boxers, Thai Boxers & MMA Fighters including Derek Roach(British Champion), Rich Cadden(World Thai Boxing Champion), Damon Jones(ABA Champion), Adil Anwar(Prizefighter Champion), Stuart Hall(British Champion), James Doyle(Semi-Professional MMA Fighter) and Paul Truscott(Commonwealth Champion). Some of Chris's other achievements include appearing in the Channel 4 Sport's Documentary "Cheating At Athens - Is It Worth It." Due to his work ethic, discipline and enthusiasm during the six week intense training schedule, designed and coached by Jim Cowan, one of the UK’s leading strategy experts, Chris received the Award for "The Most Dedicated Athlete." His incredible knowledge combined with experience and specific coaching methods can provide quality training for groups or individuals. So whether you want to fine tune your technique, spar with a professional or just have an exhilarating workout experience, Chris is the trainer for you.
