MLR Personal Training

MLR Personal Training was founded by myself, Matthew L Russell a university graduate, former international athlete and fully qualified teacher. I specialise in providing bespoke training programmes in the comfort and privacy of people’s homes, local parks and work places throughout Essex and beyond.

My Approach

My approach is based on scientific principles that are proven to work, not well marketed, over hyped exercise regimes or fad diets.

      B O O T...C A M P Are you tired of going to the gym? Bored of pounding the streets? Or simply want to boost your health, fitness and confidence? Then this is a must for you! My boot camp classes are extremely enjoyable and effective, involving lots of variety, lots of equipment and above all lots of fun. There will be no screaming, no shouting and no rolling in mud! Come along and train at your own level in a friendly, encouraging and reassuring atmosphere. I run classes at: Baddow Recreation Ground, Great Baddow Saturday mornings at 9.00-10.00am (all year round) Wednesday evenings 8.00-9.00pm (summer time only) The 1st session is FREE after which there is a charge of £5 per session. To book your place please contact me. I also offer a range of other group fitness sessions in the following activities: Pad Box Running Training Sports Fitness Training These sessions can be booked by small groups or teams.     • Speed Training

      Speed is vital in all sports – it is the difference between winning and loosing. The problem is the majority of sportspeople even professionals are not as fast as they potentially could be. Speed training with me will help you fulfil your potential and boost your performance. I design speed training programmes for a wide range of sportspeople based on the most up to date scientific research, using the most cutting edge training equipment. All programmes which I design are sports-specific, meaning they replicate what happens in a game situation. So, for example, a tennis player would follow a very different training programme to what say, a footballer or rugby player would do. But what really separates me from the speed training crowd is my technical knowledge. Having competed internationally as a 100 metre sprinter and having worked with the country’s top athletics coaches I can instinctively analyse running technique and then employ a range of strategies to improve that technique and ultimately an individual’s speed. Speed training classes can be booked by individuals or groups/teams. There is a charge of £50 per session. If you would like more information, or to book a session, please contact me.

      Sports or Remedial Massage as it is also known is for anyone who desires a deep massage that really works the muscles. It is invaluable for regular exercisers who need to sooth and detoxify sore muscles in preparation for the next bout of action. Equally it is just as beneficial for those who do not play sports but perhaps work in an office, or on a building site as it is extremely effective at loosening tight muscles and refreshing aching limbs. Sports Massage uses a range of techniques such as: Efflurage Neuromuscular Techniques Petirissage Muscle Energy Techniques Tapotement Soft Tissue Release Vibrations Myofascial Techniques Sports Massage has many benefits, here a just a few: Improve circulation and lymphatic flow Assist in the removal of metabolic waste Sedate or stimulate nerve endings Increase or decrease muscle tone Increase or decrease muscle length Remodel scar tissue Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation Massage treatments last for at least 60 minutes and can be booked as stand alone sessions or combined with a Personal Training session for what is known as Fitness & Therapy.
