How it all Began

from 14 stone drayman to 11 stone fitness guru.

A few years ago, my life was unrecognisable from what it is now. I was a drayman for the brewery and spent my days driving from pub to pub manhandling barrels of beer. I went to the gym 5 times a week, played rugby and was a football referee. I was generally fit and strong. I had to be. Those barrels weighed over 50 kilos! But still, I didnt feel quite right. I weighed over 14 stone and had developed a bad back.

I decided to take control of my life. I took my redundancy and decided to make a real effort to get myself into shape. My first step was to join a local ‘bootcamp’. Although I didn’t lose weight immediately, I detected subtle changes in my body shape. I began to feel generally fitter. After a few months, the instructor became unwell and I was invited by the other members to take over.

      At Lewis Personal Training Boot Camps are non-military as I believe that all exercises should be carried out using correct technique to avoid injury and gain results safely. Every session is planned differently to the last one and changes every month in terms of types of sessions. This enables clients to stay focused and motivated without getting bored, enjoying sessions more. I pride my sessions on being fun even when they are at their most challenging and that all clients are treated as individuals whatever their ability and goals. Sessions include Circuits, Bodyweight exercises, use of functional equipment such as Medballs, VIPr, Kettle Bells, Ropes, Tyres and Resistance Bands etc.

      Personal Training sessions are designed so that they are both enjoyable as well as rewarding in terms of individual’s goals with a free well-being evaluation and consultation including weight, BMI and body fat percentages. This enables any medical or health restrictions being recognised so clients can achieve their goals safely.
