Intrinsic Pilates

Susannah Alpert certified in 1993 as a Personal Trainer, and in 1995 as an Holistic Massage Therapist. During this time she became deeply fascinated with Contrology, the original name given to the work of Joseph H. Pilates, now simply known as ‘Pilates’. Stunned at how it helped her to heal & strengthen her own body after fracturing her pelvis, she set about the task of learning the method thoroughly over a period of several years, before setting up her own studio in Hertfordshire.

Having been a massage therapist for many years, she has perfected a dynamic combination of Swedish, Shiatsu and Thai touch skills that is profoundly restorative and rebalancing. These skills can be uniquely combined to marry the two therapies together to achieve extraordinary changes in the myofascial tensegrity of the body.

This in turn can bring about a complete transformation in the body’s myofascia, releasing restricted chains of tension, and pain patterns which can be held in the body for years, thus allowing for more fluid movements, symmetry in the body, dynamic strength, and helping to achieve idealised posture.
