Healthy Body Healthy Mind

I have set up Healthy Body Healthy Mind Personal Training with Caroline Collins as I have returned to the industry I truly enjoy and am fiercely passionate about.

I'm not new to the industry as from the age of 20 I was a level 2 Fitness Instructor, Boxercise, Circuit and Spinning Instructor and I started my working life working in Health Clubs in London. I worked in Liverpool Street, Embankment and I opened up a brand new club as the Assistant Manager in Covent Garden. After numerous years of the London rat race I decided to work locally as an instructor at North Weald Health & Fitness Club. I had a great few years there and then turned to the management side of the industry and opened up the Manor of Groves Health Club as one of the Duty Managers.

For my sins I then decided to have a change and for the past 9 years I have worked in office based jobs and in the summer of 2013 I decided enough was enough. I was so unhappy and I just wasn’t meant to be stuck in an office all day.

    • Boxercise from
      45 mins
      £8.00
Boxercise Boxercise is based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Sessions can take a variety of formats but a typical one may involve pad work, shadow-boxing, skipping, bag work, press-ups & sit-ups. Boxercise is aimed at men and women of all ages and fitness standard as it is a fun, challenging and a safe workout. Boxing training is for everyone: Whatever your size, shape or sex. Remember, every boxer will have started from ground level, so anyone and everyone can work their way up to a good level of fitness! Release your aggression: Boxing training is a great way to do that, making you feel calm because all the aggression is very channelled and controlled. Even though there is no physical contact, it enables you to feel in control of your body and more confident about protecting yourself if you are required to. Focus energy and concentration: Training stimulates your mind and boosts your self-belief. What are you waiting for?
    • Cardiovascular and Body Fat Loss from
      45 mins
      £8.00
Cardiovascular and Body Fat Loss As you perform cardio routines and exercises, you are moving your arms and legs with a rhythmic movement that allows your body to pump blood and oxygen to all parts of your body. This strengthens your heart, burns calories and burns fat. There are also many different types of cardiovascular exercises so your workout routine will never get boring and as well as being used for body fat loss cardiovascular is essential for keeping your heart healthy and increasing your fitness level. Cardiovascular exercise is a vital part of any fat loss programme but it does not strengthen your muscles or increase muscle tone. To lose body fat you MUST have strength training in your exercise routine. The more you work the muscles, the better and more defined your overall muscle tone looks. A lot of people don't use weight training for fear of bulking up. This is a myth-you need to combine both forms of exercise to reach your goals and I can help you achieve this.
    • Kettlebell Training from
      45 mins
      £8.00
Kettlebell Training Kettlebells are weights that range from 5 lbs to over 100 lbs and are shaped like a ball with a handle for easy gripping. The kettlebell originated in Russia and are a hugley popular piece of equipment. Kettlebells offer a different kind of training using dynamic moves targeting almost every aspect of fitness – endurance, strength, balance, agility and cardio endurance. People love it because it's challenging, efficient and you only need one piece of equipment. Some movements have you changing the weight from hand to hand as the weight swings up or as you move laterally, requiring you to stabilize the body and engage the core in a whole new way. Other moves require power from the legs and hips to move the weight, giving you integrated whole body movements that are often missing with other types of training. Kettlebells are fun, challenging and widely used within my PT sessions.
    • The TRX Suspension from
      45 mins
      £12.00
TRX The TRX Suspension Trainer is a workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance so is an ideal piece of kit for beginners to advanced people and I will show how and what to do depending again on your goals. The TRX delivers a fast, effective total-body workout; helps build a rock-solid core, increases muscular endurance and is a fun part of any training session.
    • Fitness & Body Composition Tests from
      45 mins
      £12.00
Fitness & Body Composition Tests You need to see progression in any training programme so fitness testing and body composition tests are an excellent way of recording your progress. I can do various static tests such as body measurements, body fat readings, and height, weight and BMI. There are also various dynamic tests such as the cooper 1.5 mile run, full sit up and press up tests for you to progress onto. Don’t worry I won’t do any tests on the first consultation (apart from checking your blood pressure) so I promise not to turn up with the skin fold callipers unless you want me to of course!
    • Circuit Training from
      45 mins
      £12.00
Circuit Training Circuit training is an excellent way to improve mobility, strength and stamina. Circuit training comprises of 6 to 10 strength exercises that are completed one exercise after another. Each exercise is performed for a specified number of repetitions or for a set time before moving on to the next exercise. The exercises within each circuit are separated by a short rest period, and each circuit is separated by a longer rest period. The total number of circuits performed during a training session may vary from two to six depending on your training level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced), your period of training (preparation or competition) and your training objective. Circuit training tends to be intense, but it’s completely adaptable to the individual. Beginners use less weight and perform simpler moves than more-experienced exercisers, but everyone gets a good workout and its loads of fun!
    • Core Stability from
      45 mins
      £12.00
Core Stability Core stability is the name given to the strengthening of the corset of muscles surrounding the back and abdomen. These muscles are also known as the core or powerhouse muscles and provide a solid base upon which all other muscles can work upon to initiate movement. There are many terms used to describe the concept of core stability but all refer to the muscular control used to maintain stability around the lumbar spine and pelvis. There are many different components to core stability each playing its own part to stabilize the region. The strength of the muscles is not so much important as their ability to fire and activate during specific movement sequences to stabilize the low back and pelvis giving a stable base from which force can be generated through the limbs to run, jump, kick and complete everday tasks. Core stability is an integral part of any training programme and helps creates good posture, gain confidence and improve appearance.
    • Nutrition from
      1 hr
      £15.00
Nutrition One of the key factors of living a healthy lifestyle is having the right nutrition. Making the correct choices and sourcing the correct food has a massive influence on your health & wellbeing. There are many misconceptions about the quality and type of foods that make up a healthy eating plan. Often people under eat which reduces their metabolic rate and lowers the rate at which their body burns fat. This means that by drastically reducing your calorie intake you could be increasing your body fat mass. The immediate decrease in weight is often the result of losing lean muscle tissue and dehydration. Losing weight isn’t about eating less. It's important to realise that losing weight and the loss of fat are two different things. Eating healthily isn’t a quick fix-it's learning to make healthy choices for life. I can help you make the right choices by giving you advice and offering you a nutritional consultation that will help you on your way to a better you. I will monitor you and you would also be expected to keep a food diary for me to analyse.
