Manage Your Appointment Book - Plan ahead to ensure empty white space is kept to a minimum.

Time = Money, or to put it another way:

Time Lost = Money Lost!

How do you react when your salon goes quiet? As some time or other, most salon and spa businesses experience quieter times. It is easy to put this down to the seasonal nature of the industry, but it’s much more likely to happen due to the success or failure of putting business strategies, goals and marketing activities in place, to continually ensure a steady stream of clients.

When running promotions and/or special offers, stay in control of the outcome, take time to plan and to cost, again ensuring that, while you may not be making a huge profit on the offer, you definitely won’t incur a loss.

Target your own database when running offers in order to create loyalty. Remember to maximise the potential with regular clients, rather than always looking for new clients.

Presumably you have decided to offer promotions in the hope of generating on-going business from each client. A staff training session is required to teach each employee to up-sell the offer and then rebook regular services, thereby keeping columns full and eliminating the need for ‘panic’ special offers.

As a salon owner or manager, on-going promotion of your business is key to salon survival. Clients are looking for you online, so take every opportunity the internet presents. This includes having a listing on PamperPad, which is an online platform, available to you to promote your services, and it’s even free for a standard listing. The main benefit from registering your business on PamperPad is the opportunity to provide new and potential clients with all the details about your full range of services available and the full background to your business.

A growing salon business needs to be closely and carefully managed to ensure that all columns are continually running at a healthy level of consistent productivity. Attend to this, keep those white spaces to a minimum and special offers will soon be a thing of the past!
