The latest beauty trend storming the country is the weight loss body wrap, promising to shrink your size, help you drop those pesky extra pounds and provide a relaxing and luxurious treatment, so what can you expect from a body wrap?

The body wrap is considered to be one of those beauty treatments that can banish pounds in a few short minutes. Body wraps were first introduced many years ago when linen sheets were used and the treatments were commonly named herbal wraps, but nowadays thermal blankets have replaced the linen sheets.
This innovative treatment is making its way into salons and spas up and down the country but how the treatment is delivered can vary depending on where you go. Imagine a relaxing room with soft candles and relaxing music surrounding an enticing massage table.
If you are in a hurry to lose a little weight, the body wrap is seen by many as the perfect solution to melt away a few excess pounds in preparation for a special event.
There are many different types of wraps available and while they are not a substitute for diet and exercise they can be a convenient and handy quick fix to help you look and feel slimmer for that all important party!
What to expect...
What happens during a treatment and how long does it last?
Firstly the massage table is layered up with a thermal blanket and plastic sheet which is used as well as plenty of towels keep you nice and snug.
The treatment begins with a gentle exfoliation using salon mud, apple, pear or another suitable option for gentle exfoliation. This is followed by a shower to rinse the exfoliator off before the application of a thin layer of wrap product before the client is wrapped in the plastic sheet and then the towel.
Once the treatment is applied, you will be completely wrapped in a thermal blanket which will be gently heated to encourage the treatment to work. After a period of 30 minutes, the client is slowly cooled down before removal of the wrap. The client then needs to shower before the treatment is finished with application of lotion.
So there you have it - a simple yet effective treatment which gives great results if you want to look your best for that special occasion.
