Blog > Oscar Hair Heros ...

Published 25th March 2014

According to most entertainment websites, Jared Leto stole the Oscar Hair show this year with his ‘Jesus the surfer’ ombre locks. He may have nabbed the limelight like Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson – their pixie cut debuts provided many hairy debates in 2013 and 2010 – but lets face it, ombre is soooo 2011. It looked like it only took him 30 seconds to get ready (Get it?). (Have to say his oscar performance was utterly breathtaking however)

Old Hollywood glamour was still very much a default with Jessica Biel and Angelina Jolie opting for their very safe, long, pulled to one side, soft curls. Cate Blanchett’s hair was beautiful and simple, complementing the awesomeness of her dress.

Deep side partings will feature this spring/summer for sure along with soft and loose up-do’s a-la-Julia Roberts.

I liked the slicked back – I’m-growing-my-hair-back – look of Jennifer Garner and adored the simple beauty of Lupita Nyong’o's whole look. Amazing skin, the teeny tiny headband on slightly raised Afro hair – genius!...

Amy Adams’s ready to re-create up do was very cute for all ages. My personal hair hero of these Oscars was Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs – now I wish we had more of this look in the salon!

Ok so that’s enough of ‘oh they’re so fabulous darling’; lets recognise the ones that got it wrong. Portia De Rossi obviously had the same hairdresser as Jennifer Garner but only one of them pulled it off.  Surprisingly, Liza Minnelli does not get my ‘Worst Oscar Hair’ trophy, as she at least made an effort. My prize goes to Goldie *yawns* Hawn. The same look for decades, boring! Try smoothing (sic) something new Goldie.
