Blog > How to use your Facebook Page More Efficiently

Published 14th May 2018

Facebook can be one of your salon’s best friends if you use it properly. But how do you use it ‘properly?’. Gone are the days of using Facebook as a personal social media, it is now more effective as a business marketing platforms. If you get it right, it can get you more customers and recognition; get it wrong, however, and you may notice that fewer people are coming through the door.

Conduct an Image Revamp

They say to never judge a book by it’s cover, but that doesn’t apply to Facebook.

Make sure you have a striking and eye-catching cover photo and profile picture. Ideally, make sure they are matching, with similar colour schemes, or even better, come from the same image, ie the profile picture being the salon logo, with the cover picture being the salon shop-front.

The next step is to make sure your pinned post (the one that stays at the top of the page) is up to date, as there is absolutely no point in advertising Easter deals in July.

Declutter and Double Check

After an image revamp, move onto doing a declutter and double-check of the posts that you have previously shared. Check for the usual typos, and remove anything that you may think is now irrelevant, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Check the Finer Details

What is the point in having an about section if it is not up to date? Make sure all important information is regularly checked and kept correct. This includes details such as the opening hours of your salon, as well as the address, email address, contact telephone number and a brief summary of what is on offer

Quality over Quantity

There is no point in posting for the sake of posting, people don’t want to see irrelevant information especially not when they liked your page to hear about the salon.

Making sure the spelling and grammar is perfect is another easy way to keep people engaged in what you’re doing, no one wants to read a paragraph that has mistakes all the way through, and they are definitely less likely to visit your salon.

Call to Action

What do you want the people who have read your post to do? Call to make an appointment? Share the post with their friends? Enquire for more information? If you don’t give your potential customers a ‘Call to Action’ then they will most likely just read the post and then carry on scrolling as they need instructions. Keep a list of call to action templates saved in a document or note on your device and then copy and paste the one you want in and tweak it to fit your post. This way the posts are all uniform and look more professional, while still being unique enough to cause people to unlike the page.

Story Telling

People love to hear other’s personal stories in regards to why they chose your salon, either as a customer or employee, just don’t make them too chatty, and remember to keep them relevant. For example, a post about a new apprentice hair stylist saying why they wanted to get into hairdressing and why they chose to do their apprenticeship at your salon is personal whilst also being professional.

Don’t however, share stories that aren’t relevant to your business. If people want to know some gossip about what happened on your neighbours, friends holiday, they would add you on your personal facebook.
